Change in listserv, and legislative news

Folks - Thank you for your patience as we've worked through the hiccups that are inevitable in any change in technology. Our RPPTL Section has been in the process of transitioning from one listserv environment to another, and anything like that always has some challenges. Some of us got dropped from either this list or other RPPTL lists, and we had the uncontrolled repetition of an email question caused by an automatic-reply earlier this week, with pleas to "fix this" left and right. I think/hope we're past most of this, and the new vendor has been very helpful in working through these issues. Most recently, I asked the administrators to re-enable everyone on this list who had been disabled. It was not possible to discern who might have elected to be "disabled" and who had been inadvertently disabled (and I was hearing from some of you who had been inadvertently disabled), so I asked them to re-enable everyone, and that was accomplished yesterday afternoon. If you'd like to be disabled, you can go and do that yourself.

If you have not already done so, you need to check your login/subscription status. Everyone needs to do this. Karika Caplano explained to me how do it:

You will need to register at https://lists.flabarrpptl.org/https://lists.flabarrpptl.org/. Once on the website, click the top-right menu where it reads "Hi Guest," and a dropdown will display "Sign Up For New Account." Once you click Sign Up for New Account, fill out the form with your First Name, Last Name, and the current email address used for the listserv, along with a new password. You will then need to verify your email, as an email will be sent to your inbox to click and verify. Once you have done so, you will have access to the system by logging into the system at lists.flabarrpptl.orghttps://lists.flabarrpptl.org/.

That will then show you the various RPPTL lists to which you might be subscribe, and you can modify your settings if you'd like to do so. I will say that the verification email may take a few minutes. Because I'm impatient, I went back in and did it again after not receiving it, and then I got two emails in rapid succession.... So be more patient than I was.

While mildly humorous, I obviously can't ask "if you didn't get this e-mail please let me know." But in all seriousness, if you hear from a friend or colleague that they have not gotten an email recently from either this email or another RPPTL list they might be on, please pass this email along to them, particularly Klarika's helpful instructions. You might even check with the colleagues in your firms about whether they got this email.

Also, the RPPTL Executive Council approved our CCNA/P3 bills, despite a bit of drama over the public records exemption part from a former section chair. Lee Weintraub descended from the dais to help explain the purpose of the exemptions and how they worked in practice, so thank you to Lee for that assist.

I hope everyone has a good weekend, and I'll see you at the next CLC meeting on September 14.
