Greetings. Following on my email of this past Wednesday, early registration for the meeting at the JW Marriott Marquis is now open. FIRST, PLEASE THOROUGHLY AND COMPLETELY READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE PROCEEDING TO REGISTER:
Attached is an updated Brochure - the only changes from the one sent out on Wednesday were to (a) correct an error in the dates pertaining to modification of hotel reservations, and (b) revise and updated the process for reserving a hotel room, as the Bar has found a much better and far easier way to provide you with access to the hotel website - more on this below. THE PROCESS FOR MAKING YOUR HOTEL RESERVATION IS NOW DIFFERENT FROM WHAT WE DID AT THE BREAKERS! Nothing else has changed in the Brochure.
You should first log into your Florida Bar account (NOT on the RPPTL Section website), and then click on the link provided in #7 below to begin the registration process.
After you have completed your registration for the Executive Council meeting events, you will reach the following webpage:
[cid:image003.png@01D559C4.70D99F30]
Click on "Continue to Event" and a new page will appear with the following at the top of your screen:
[cid:image004.jpg@01D559CA.E2447220]
Click on "Hotel Reservation Info" and it will lead you to accessing the hotel website to make your hotel room reservation.
Please remember that you can only reserve 1 hotel room under the room block - if you desire a second room, you will need to contact the JW Marriott Marquis directly and book under their standard rate. If somehow an error is made by the JW Marriott Marquis that provides you with a second room within the room block, please be aware that we will be canceling your second room (as we monitor the room block) - again, we have a limited number of rooms and need to provide access to as many Executive Council members as possible.
Now that you have read the above, here is the link to the Bar website - https://member.floridabar.org/s/lt-event?id=a1R1R0000052fa9UAA#Overview. REMEMBER, IT WILL WORK FASTER AND BETTER IF YOU HAVE FIRST LOGGED INTO YOUR ACCOUNT ON THE BAR WEBSITE.
If the room block is full by the time that you try to make your hotel reservation, DON'T PANIC - put your name on the waitlist, which is being monitored throughout the entire process. The plan is that with this reservation procedure, we will have fewer people on the waitlist, and with cancellations and modifications, we should be able to get the vast majority, if not all, of those who are on the waitlist into a room at the JW Marriott Marquis.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU REMEMBER THE CANCELLATION TIMELINE AND POLICIES AS REFERENCED IN THE BROCHURE. DO NOT TRY TO MAKE A CANCELLATION OR MODIFICATION WHEN PENALTIES ARE STATED TO BE IN EFFECT AND EXPECT THAT THE PENALTIES WILL BE WAIVED - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
As a reminder, if you have any questions concerning the registration procedures, or have issues with registering on the Bar website or with hotel reservations, DO NOT CALL MARY ANN OBOS OR HILARY STEPHENS, AND DO NOT HAVE YOUR LEGAL ASSISTANT CALL MARY ANN OR HILARY. You can either (1) email Mary Ann at mobos@floridabar.orgmailto:mobos@floridabar.org and she will get back to you as soon as she can, or (2) call or email me.
IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL OR MODIFY YOUR HOTEL ROOM RESERVATION, YOU MUST SEND AN EMAIL TO MARY ANN (mobos@floridabar.orgmailto:mobos@floridabar.org) WITH THE DETAILS. PLEASE DO NOT CALL MARY ANN TO CANCEL OR MODIFY YOUR HOTEL ROOM RESERVATION - IT MUST BE DONE VIA EMAIL. ALSO, THE HOTEL WILL NOT BE HANDLING CANCELLATIONS OR MODIFICATIONS TO THE HOTEL ROOM, SO CALLING THE HOTEL WILL NOT WORK.
Finally, please...please....PLEASE be patient - this is the second time that we have used this process (and the first time using this particular process for the hotel reservations), and while we believe that all bugs and issues in the process have been resolved, it is possible that problems could arise. Again, breathe, we will get any problems taken care of as fast as we can.
One final note - please do not forward this email to others.
Please let me know if you have any questions. We anticipate opening up the registration process late in the afternoon on Wednesday, August 28th, so please be sure to get this completed in short order.
Regards, Rob

A question was posed to me about the Friday evening dine-arounds and there not being anything on the website to register for these. We have not set the dine-arounds yet - locations are still being determined, and we will have more about this in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
