Subject: RPPTL Friday 12/5 from 10 -11 am - From Wire Fraud to Ransomware: Shielding Your Firm Against Cybercrime

ALMs,

I want to make you aware of a program that will interest those on the RP and Probate sides. From Wire Fraud to Ransomware: Shielding Your Firm Against Cybercrime will be presented by the Disaster and Emergency Preparedness and Recovery Committee this Friday from 10 – 11 am. It has been accredited for 1 hour of general and 1 hour of technology credit. Please share the details below and the attached agenda with others in your circuit and on other committees you are involved with. It is being presented live at the Four Seasons meetings and via Zoom. The Zoom link is on the agenda.

From Wire Fraud to Ransomware: Shielding Your Firm Against Cybercrime
Law firms are prime targets for cybercriminals due to the vast amount of sensitive financial data, personally identifiable information (PII), and confidential client communications they manage. For practices focused on real property, probate, and trusts, the most significant cybercrime-related risks include Business Email Compromise (BEC), Social Engineering Fraud / Wire Transfer Fraud, Ransomware Attacks, and Third-Party Vendor Risk.  Each of these threats can lead to severe financial losses and long-term reputational damage. This session will:

  • Examine the nature and impact of these risks on law firms and important initial steps in response to a cyber-attack.
  • Provide practical risk management and prevention strategies to reduce exposure.
  • Explore insurance solutions that can help transfer and mitigate these risks effectively.
    Presented by:
Kelly S. Geary, Esq. – EPIC Insurance Brokers – Greenwich, CT
Robert A. Shimberg, Esq. - Hill, Ward, Henderson – Tampa
Rebecca Wood, Esq.  – Old Republic Title – Gainesville
