Greetings Past Chairs:

Attached is the brochure for the Charleston meeting March 2-6, 2022.  This is an absurdly long email.  If you have no interest in going to Charleston, SC, you can stop reading here.  If you are interested in going to Charleston with your RPPTL Friends, please read to the end.

Walking.  Charleston is best experienced on foot, so bring very comfortable shoes.  I expect several PRs from you Fitbit types.

Walking Tour. There are walking tours on both Thursday and Friday morning.  It is the same walking tour both days.  The Friday walking tour is provided for those that chose to go to see Middleton Place on Thursday morning or just could join on Thursday.  You definitely want to go on the walking tour; it helps orient you to the City's layout so you can explore it more on your own.

Thursday.  The afternoon boat tour does not conflict with either of the morning activities, so you can do a morning tour and the boat tour if you want, but the boat tour has limited seating.  We will enjoy a Garden Party that evening at the William Aiken House, which is only a few blocks walk from the hotel down King St.  This will be the dressier of the evening functions; fine clothes and hats are encouraged (but you can wear whatever you want).

Friday.  If you go on the walking tour on Thursday, you have an open day (after breakfast) until we leave at 3:30pm for Boone Hall Plantation, where we will enjoy a presentation on Gullah culture and it's influence on modern cuisine and dinner and music on the Cotton Dock.  The dress is casual and Foodies will not want to be late for that bus!

Saturday. After enjoying breakfast with your RPPTL friends, explore the City on your own.  There are countless shops and stores of every type.

Saturday night.  There will be an optional dinner on Saturday night.  I hope you choose to go to one of the great restaurants in Charleston instead.  You will want reservations as early as possible, at least several weeks in advance, and you will likely have to pay a deposit to get the reservation.  I strongly encourage you to pick a restaurant from the many choices and go for it.

Charleston Food & Wine Festival.  There are still festival tickets available for those that wish at: www.charlestonwineandfood.comhttp://www.charlestonwineandfood.com
