Long-Range Planning Committee Meeting

Greetings to all.  With today being my first day as Chair-Elect, I would like to express my thanks for the confidence that you have shown in me in naming me to this position and the support that you have given me over the years, and I will do everything in my power to meet your expectations.

I thought that it made sense to send you this email as a starting point for scheduling the Long-Range Planning Committee meeting (yes, it is likely 6+ months away, but I thought that determining a date sooner rather than later would be of assistance to you for your schedules).  In recent years, it seems that the Long-Range Planning Committee meeting has been held in conjunction with an Executive Council meeting held in January or February.  As Deb's Executive Council meetings will be occurring in early December and then March 14-16, December is certainly too early, and it seems to me that the March date is too late in the Bar year for Long-Range Planning to meet and make its decisions, especially since there could be a ripple effect on various substantive and standing committee appointments.  The Officer's Planning Conference will be held February 7th (followed by the Strategic Planning Meeting on February 8th-9th), both in Tampa.  I would thus like to propose the following dates for the Long-Range Planning Committee meeting to occur here in Tampa at the Carlton Fields' offices (where such meeting has been held on multiple occasions in the past), if such location is amenable to all:

Thursday, February 21st
Tuesday, February 26th
Wednesday, February 27th
Thursday, February 28th
Friday, March 1st

Please let me know if one or all of these dates will work, and if you would plan to attend in person or by phone - hopefully, this far out, we can find a date that works for everyone.

My understanding is that the meeting will need to last several hours and start so as to allow out-of-towners who desire to attend in person to be able to fly in that morning and then end after lunch.  So, I am presuming that the timing would be 10:00-2:00 or later if needed, but obviously will follow your direction.

I look forward to hearing back from you with your thoughts and comments.

Regards, Rob

Greetings to all.  Based upon your replies to my July 1st email (I have now heard from around 75% of you), the best date for the Long-Range Planning Meeting is Wednesday, February 27th - only one person indicated that the 27th would be problematic, and others replied that they would have to be on the phone but would be able to participate.  I have attached a calendar entry for you to drag to your calendars - I have set the starting time for 10:00, so as to enable those who are flying in to (hopefully) not have to get up in the obscenely wee hours to get to Tampa.

Thanks, and please let me know if you have any questions.  Also, please remember to respond to me directly (rfreedman@carltonfields) and not to this listserv email if you need me to reach me.

Regards, Rob

I have attached a calendar entry for you to drag to your calendars - I have set the starting time for 10:00, so as to enable those who are flying in to (hopefully) not have to get up in the obscenely wee hours to get to Tampa. Thanks, and please let me know if you have any questions. Also, please remember to respond to me directly (rfreedman@carltonfields) and not to this listserv email if you need me to reach me. Sent: Sunday, July 01, 2018 3:29 PM To: 'rpptl_pastchairs@lists.flabarrpptl.org' Cc: Freedman, Robert S.; Debra Lynn Boje - Gunster (dboje@gunster.com) Subject: Long-Range Planning Committee Meeting Greetings to all. I would thus like to propose the following dates for the Long-Range Planning Committee meeting to occur here in Tampa at the Carlton Fields' offices (where such meeting has been held on multiple occasions in the past), if such location is amenable to all: Thursday, February 21st Tuesday, February 26th Wednesday, February 27th Thursday, February 28th Friday, March 1st Please let me know if one or all of these dates will work, and if you would plan to attend in person or by phone - hopefully, this far out, we can find a date that works for everyone.
